East Districts

It felt more like the Eastern Front on Sunday! Congratulations to all the Club Athletes who turned out for the Championships over the weekend, there were plenty of medals and PB’s despite the miserable conditions. Thanks to Edinburgh AC for taking on the organisation and responsibilty for the re-introduction of this valued early season opportunity for competition! P of 10 lists lifetime bests for Jordan Charters, Charlie Carstairs (both 200m) and seasons best for Katherine Szymanski (TJ) well done guys! Plenty medals on the go as well, I know Erin Feeley particularly enjoyed hers in the Shot Putt!! Well done to all who “endured”, competed, achieved and most of all “enjoyed” the couple of days of athletics. There can’t be many sports where hundreds of kids can be on the same field of play as a world champion (Gillian Cooke- Bobsleigh and long time Scottish Record Holder at LJ) and hardly be aware of it….. What a great sport

Olympic Experience

Club athletes Ellen Kristoffersen, Rachel Robertson, and match official Dave Finlayson, returned home yesterday from their time at the UK School Games at The Olympic Stadium, London.

Rachel and Ellen travelled down with the Scotland team on Sunday, and enjoyed a terrific few days at the Excel Centre, where they were based along with the teams from the other home nations.  There they attended presentations, met celebrities, and supported their Scotland team mates in the other sports involved in the games.

On the big day, after a 5am rise for an early breakfast, they travelled to the stadium for the match.  The stadium was impressive, but the weather could have been better.  However, both athletes went on to deliver good performances against strong opposition as Ellen finished 3rd in the High Jump (1.63m), and Rachel 4th in the Long Jump (5.52m).

Well done to both athletes.

The travelling LAC supporters had a great time as well!
