Lasswade AC are always looking to encourage more people to get involved with helping out in all areas of the club, including coaching. As such the club will cover the costs of any courses which members, volunteers, athletes wish to take part in.
Coaching at Lasswade AC is fun and rewarding. It can be useful for those looking for Duke of Edinburgh hours, adding to your personal statement for further education, adding qualifications to your C.V. Or simply if you want to give something back to the club for helping you or your kids develop. All Lasswade AC volunteers will be.
- Supported by a named person.
- Placed in a role suitable to their skills.
- Put on a rota for their role to ensure other commitments are considered.
- Allowed to do the role on a trail basis to see if they enjoy it before fully committing.
- Any training courses needed will be funded by the club.
We fully appreciate some may not be able to commit regularly to helping at training due to other commitments. However, we can place you on a rota to suit whatever time you do have. We can also buddy you up with a mentor to help support you.
Parent Helper is the first place many start, and is a great way to see if you enjoy coaching . Please talk to any coach if you wish to help. Please see below if you do enjoy it and wish to become qualified.
Assistant Coach Award
This is suitable for existing parent helpers or athletes aged over 16. More info on what is involved is here But it is a mixture of online learning and attending a one day in-person workshop (no assessment) There are also mandatory online modules to complete in First Aid and Safeguarding. Athletics Coach
This is the next step on the ladder and is suitable for those who have already completed the Assistant’s qualification. Further info on Athletics Coach is here. Upcoming dates and venues are here.
