The 2nd match of the SAIL Indoor League took place on Sunday 8th December at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow with many of the athletes competing in the first match returned to compete again.\u00a0 They were joined by Jude, Orla C, Matthew, Luke, Isla, Leo, Eva and James who were all competing indoors for the first time.

There were lots of great performances.  Lara and Maya tackled the 60m hurdles having only started hurdling the week before and despite competing against more experienced hurdlers managed to finish 3rd and 6th in their respective age groups.  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Isla and Artii completed a 60m double in the Under 11 Girls, winning both the A and B races.  Jude, on his debut, ran a great 60m race finishing 3rd overall in the B 60m race. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finlay ran another great 600m to win his heat virtually unchallenged and recorded a new PB.  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There were PBs for Ada in winning her 60m heat (3rd overall), Lara (HJ – 1.25m) and Orla (800m) in the under 13s age group with Orla taking 11 seconds off her 800m PB!

Antek took 3 seconds off his 200m PB in the U13 boys with Luke also improving on his Long Jump best.  Matthew, competing in his first indoor competition, stepped up to cover the 800m and 60m races.  It\u2019s good to see athletes taking the opportunity to fill in spaces in the teamsheet and taking up the opportunity to try different events. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the Under 15 Girls, Isla led from the front to win her 800m heat for a new PB.  Esme finished 6th in the shot putt throwing just slightly less than her PB which was recorded with a lighter shot putt (so technically a new PB!) and finished strongly in the 300m which she ran for the first time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a great run in the Under 15 Boys 800m in Match 1, Archie stepped down in distance to run an impressive 41.48s to win his heat and finish 3rd overall. He also managed to squeeze an extra centimetre on to his Long Jump PB finishing 2nd.  Harrison was delighted with his High Jump PB clearing 1.40m on his final attempt.  Leo, another of our under 15 athletes who has just made the move up from the Under 13s scored valuable team points in the 200m and 800m.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Under 17 women\u2019s team finished 4th overall with Aoife S scoring well in the 60m (5th) and recording a new High Jump PB of 1.50m for 2nd place.  Eva ran well in her 200m race for a new PB.  Emma, nursing a sore ankle still managed to record a 30cm PB in the Shot Putt. Beth finished 5th in the 800m running her fastest 800m time indoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruaridh dipped under 8 seconds for the first time in the Under 17 men\u2019s 60m for his new PB and followed that with a new PB in the long jump too.  Jake S-W won his 200m heat to finish 2nd overall and Jake P finished 5th overall in the 800m also with a new PB.

Only two U20 ladies turned out this time.  Both recorded PBs – Abbie in the 60m and Eloise in the 400m.  Eloise\u2019s 60.9 seconds was enough for the win and will almost certainly dip under 60 seconds this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Under 20 men\u2019s team put in some solid performances to finish 4th overall.  Alec again mopped up the points with 2nd place in the high jump and PBs in the 60m hurdles and shot putt.  His shot putt was an improvement of over one and a half metres which in throwing terms was massive!  In the 200m, James also ran a new PB. Ramsay had a good start in his 60m race finished 5th just outside his PB. Will ran in the 400m and finished 5th.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
