History

Lasswade was formed in 1981 to provide the population of South Edinburgh to the Borders with the opportunity not only to take part in athletics, but where possible to strive for excellence in performance. Although, we constantly try to improve our standing, we are by no means elitist – welcoming all abilities from jogger to champion! We are based in Midlothian and offer quality training for athletes from 9 to 109 at various venues.

We are now the only such club in this area and south to the Borders. We participate in a variety of leagues and championships in the summer track and field season and cross-country in the winter and have a very active adult road racing section many of whom also involve themselves significantly in the above programme.

Lasswade is the only club in Midlothian with an active junior section who compete in four specific leagues during the summer as well as cross-country in winter. The main club track competition is the Central & Southern Athletics League which is for age groups from U11 to Masters!

In addition to indoor leagues during the winter for younger members, the club also encourages senior and masters participation in other indoors competition. In winter cross-country, leagues, championships, open races, road and hill racing complete the programme.

Lasswade A.C. is now inviting you to apply for membership of its club. You may not think yourself very talented, very fast or very strong, but athletics is not just about being the fastest or the strongest. It’s about reaching those ultimate personal limits and feeling the exhilaration of doing the best you can possibly do. It’s about fun and enjoyment and team spirit and we can give you the opportunity to experience this. Please email membership@lasswade-ac.org.uk for more info
